The Department of Home Science established in June 2000 along with the establishment of the college. Home Science is taught for B.A. classes. Home Science is a practical subject so this subject is taught for students to do all the household jobs in a systematic and scientific manner. The subject of Home Science is concerned with every area of family life including cooking, clothing, furnishing and decoration of a house, child care, household purchases and family relationships. It teaches students how to eat better food, dress up well, look after their homes and spend money wisely and how to lead a happy home life. Department challenges the talent of students performing different activities like celebrating National Nutrition Week, Breast Feeding Week, Health Check-Up of students, arranging Exhibition etc. The Alumni of the department are employed in prestigious educational institutions and various sectors. The departments provides well equipped laboratory and equipment. Every year the number of student increase in the department. Male & female students are equally enthusiastic to opt for this subject.

As regards to the members of faculty of the department presently there is one full time teaching faculty, Dr. Kalpana Deshmukh, Head of the Department & other faculty members working on CHB basis .Faculties of the department have been imparting teaching to the students. The teaching members of the department take active initiation in the organization of department activities and work as a stimulating force for the students as well as for other members of the college.

Mission: -

To make the lessons of all subjects as interesting and close to real life situation as possible and to make the materials as activity based as possible.

The Department of Home Science engages in enabling Students to learn not only the theoretical aspects of the course but also to familiarize themselves with the skills, techniques and their application in everyday life.

Objectives of Department: -

1. To foster the growth, development and well-being of individuals, families and communities in utilizing the findings and advances of science and technology.

2. To achieve family happiness and overall well-being of the society.

3. To promote all round development of all individual in the home.

4. To strengthen the work of the government and non-governmental agencies in providing all round development of individuals through

a) Imparting knowledge on health, nutrition, home management, child development, their rights and responsibilities, modern technologies and other relevant information, which will lead to nutrition and social standards.

b) Developing functional & vocational skills like tailoring, food preservation, educational skills etc. which will help them in improving their economic status & to empower the women in society.

c) Bringing about change in their attitude & practices aiming at increasing the literary levels, standard of living and ultimately community and national development.
